Bayanga is famous among scientists and wildlife entusiasts for its huge amount of forrest elephants. WWF have had a Elephant specialist staying here for more than 15 years. Andrea has spotted more than 2500 indivuduals. They gather in a large clearing called a Bai, among which the Sangha Bai is the biggest. Here one can spot more than 150 individuals at a time. Or so its said. My day there where about 22 of them. But sure it is nice to just sit and watch. Besides Forrest Elephants there is numerous antilope, buffalo, wild hogs and you name it. Martyn Colbeck and James Aldred both hired by BBC to shoot a film there showed me some good places to take pictures and were extremly helpfull in every way.
